What's That? Entertainment Media Is MORE Popular Than Social Media Among Teens?!

How's it going my gumdrops? The other day on my local news, I learned that Generation Z teenagers spend more time with entertainment media than using social media.

Just to warn you in advance, I noticed that my local CBS ripped this report from the news rag channel, CNN. Therefore, you can take it or leave it. I don't sit around watching CNN or any other national news channel for that matter.

CBS 58: "Teens Spend 9 Hours A Day Using Media, Report Says"

As I was saying, the Generation Z teenagers are supposedly spending more time enjoying entertainment media than social media. Thank you, God!

In a way, I'm somewhat relieved to hear this news (if it's actually true) because it would mean that Generation Z still enjoys being entertained as opposed to being brainwashed and bored into oblivion by self-righteous, wannabe "political activists."

It has been at least 15 years, since I was last a teenager. Throughout the decades, most teenagers were normally interested in entertainment and fashion, anyway.

Unlike what students have been forced to do over these last 11 years, those of us in our early 30's-50's were NOT  necessarily required to militantly march around our campuses and across the country with our high school teachers and professors to protest religions, wars, and presidents we hated and/or condemned them for classroom assignments.

Furthermore, it was not an extreme requirement to be politically correct 24/7. We had enough of our own personal problems to endure.

Speaking of militant educators from personal experience, I had a Baby Boomer English Lit. professor, who had political hatred for both Bush Administrations. He especially hated The Reagans and every Conservative Republican in existence. This is dating back to 2005.

Before entertainment was ruined by the politically divisive media and self-righteous, politically divisive, Hollywood "activists," we made the most out of our adolescence by socializing, dating, shopping, and enjoying entertainment with or without friends.

Everyone did not have cell phones and if you had your own phone line to your bedroom (like moi), that was still pretty cool. Wow! Life without a cell phone. What a shocker!

Entertainment's original purpose was for escapism. Now, it is more of a platform for attention whores, political propaganda, and self-righteous, wannabe political activists.

Before 2003 and 2004, there was no such thing as MySpace or Facebook. During the 1990's and early 21st Century, the closest to social networking were forums and blogging forums. It was great!

We didn't have to take selfies every God damn second for literally every stranger around the world to validate our physical appearances. We had our own physical scrapbooks and photo albums to hold onto our memories WITHOUT  being online for the whole world to see us for validation.

Also, it was NOT  a requirement for us to broadcast the vapid play by play of our daily lives and/or politically and religiously oppress each others' views. Oppression and spying with divisive tools is the way to be today. Oh, how lovely.

It is a disgrace that Generation Z teenagers must have sharents and helicopter parents friending them on social media sites because they want to spy on everything their sons and daughters say and do.

If today's parents can't trust their teenagers and younger children, they should NOT  have social media accounts.

Teenagers value their freedom from their parents and don't want their parents EAVESDROPPING.

Meaning, they want to talk amongst their friends about crushes, boyfriends, girlfriends, etc. without their parents constantly eavesdropping into their conversations.

Remember when parents, mainly MOTHERS would eavesdrop by listening to their sons/daughters talking on landline phones?

Landline phones were replaced with Facebook walls and other social media sites with walls for teenagers to have their conversations with friends, boyfriends, and girlfriends online.

Granted, a nice portion of their discussions are usually PUBLIC. However, they have more control over who they allow on their friends list and who can see their posts.

This especially can be said for IM chat features. Aside from the privacy features on social media sites, teenagers really DON'T  need to be on social media sites because there's too many creeps online.

Considering that I'm old enough to have my own 8th grader, I would only allow my son or daughter to use the Internet for homework assignments and research. There are a lot of sociopaths, pedophiles, serial killers, and other types of lowlife criminals using the Internet.

If the Internet is NOT safe for adults, why would it be any safer for minors?

This may sound like I'm contradicting myself, but just think about it. Lately, adults are proving to be just as careless and irresponsible as teenagers.

I can understand why parents eavesdrop on their teenagers' conversations. At the same time, teenagers still value their privacy.

Regarding teenagers and entertainment, they should be like the typical teenagers. In other words, they should be watching TV, listening to music, talking to their friends on the phone, NOT  texting and sexting them to cause huge backlash.

Teenagers should also have their typical sleepovers, parties, DATES, etc. They have their entire lives to be adults. Therefore, they should be enjoying their adolescence, while they still can. Tomorrow is promised to NO ONE.

What's That? My Prime Time Shows Have Been Renewed! *Doing The REAL Harlem Shake*

This blog was originally published on Xanga April 30, 2013.

Hey there Xangans! It has been a while, since I have done a review about any TV shows and/networks. In regards to local prime time shows, I am rejoicing. Family Guy, American Dad, Hawaii Five-0, Grimm, and Nikita were renewed for next fall!

I am not the slightest bit worried about cable/satellite shows, that I watch being renewed. Their seasons are typically shortened and alternated with other shows. However, there are OTHER local and cable/satellite shows, which can afford to be canceled. I'd love to see all the American Idol copycat shows canceled, including a few other Reality TV shows, and shows that have TERRIBLE writing.

I'm somewhat amazed at how well Hawaii Five-0, Grimm, and Nikita have done, ratings wise. Their writing is really starting to get ridiculous. I'm most definitely surprised about Grimm being renewed on NBC. It's NOT  the stereotypical prime time show, that NBC would air.

NBC loves airing more dramatized, Law & Order type of shows, for example. Now, that's a show I could never watch. It's too depressing for me. Grimm seems more like a campy, CW show, whereas Nikita appears more like a Fox or ABC show.

I suppose Nikita fans like moi are lucky, that it has been on The CW these last 3 seasons. If La Femme Nikita's remake would've aired on Fox or ABC, it most likely would've been canceled within 1 episode or so.

About 7 years ago, ABC canceled Heather Graham's prime time sitcom, Emily's Reasons Why Not literally after its SERIES PREMIERE.

 Emily's Reason's Why Not

According to ABC, Emily's Reasons Why Not was supposedly canceled because the critics claimed that Graham's character and the narration were "too much like Sex and the City." This amuses me. Graham's sitcom was nowhere near a show about skanky, old hags and their booty calls.

Meanwhile, the Hawaii Five-0 remake has been unrealistic in its writing, since its premiere. The writing has become more unrealistic than the last 2 seasons. After watching last night's episode hours ago, I couldn't help laughing at it.

Last night's Hawaii Five-0 episode was exactly what whyzat described in her blog yesterday. Hawaii Five-0 had a so-called "tag along" film crew and documented how they handle crimes. It felt as if I was simultaneously watching American Dad and Cops. Mark Dacascos' villainous character, "Wo Fat," was shown as a disguised cop.

Suddenly, Five-0 started a shootout while this busybody, talk show hostess named "Savannah" (played by Aisha Tyler) made her film crew record every little detail. It was all because a talk show hostess, could exploit Hawaii Five-0 on her talk show for ratings. Some of the scenes were ridiculous.

The more I think about it, last night's episode was somewhat believable. Viewers should REALLY pay close attention to most news journalists' behavior, whenever they are covering a story for local and/national news ratings.

After the Boston Marathon Explosions happened few weeks ago, 1 of our local Fox News reporters from WI stayed in Boston to get "the latest scoop." Right in front of a Caution-wrapped crime scene, he reported to us Wisconsinites about Boston.

The blabbermouth went into so much detail about evidence, that it would normally be considered "highly classified information." Sometimes, news reporters and other people in the media cause more problems than they help solve them. In retrospect, I suppose last night's episode of Hawaii Five-0 was somewhat realistic regarding the writing for it, followed by mostly Tomfoolery.

In regards to Hawaii Five-0 and Nikita, I believe both shows remain on TV mostly because there are very few American prime time shows, that have more Asians as main characters. Most of the time, Asian actors end up playing meager, token role, characters for American shows rather than leading roles. This can especially be said for Nikita.

I didn't watch very much of the original USA TV series, when I was a teenager, but Nikita wasn't an Asian American character. She had blonde hair and blue eyes, and the original series seemed like it belonged on Skinemax. I say this because Michael and Nikita had several or more sex scenes.

Meanwhile, the Nikita remake has an Asian American actress playing the protagonist. Regarding sexual content, this series is very tone down.

It would not be surprising if Maggie Q. feels proud to be a successful, Asian American actress as THE star of a former, award winning, TV series.

As for Hawaii Five-0, I feel the remake still remains because Scott Caan is James Caan's (who also made a cameo) son and has Hollywood cameos, and recurring Asian American Martial Artists/Movie Stars (Mark Dacascos and Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa) have airtime. Also, there are 2 Asians playing main characters.

Speaking of American Dad, I am a somewhat surprised to see this Adult Cartoon also got renewed. Sometimes American Dad's episodes can be hit or miss these days. Seth MacFarlane may have 3 cartoons airing on Fox but Family Guy is the funniest out of all 3. I like watching Family Guy and American Dad, but I've never liked The Cleveland Show.

I still don't understand why Cleveland has his own show. He wasn't funny, when he was on Family Guy. Originally, Quagmire was supposed to have his own, before The Cleveland Show was created. I am glad Seth MacFarlane kept Quagmire on Family Guy. He is a highly favored Family Guy character much like Peter and Stewie. I am not only saying this because of my own bias, but also saying this because Peter, Stewie, and Quagmire have the biggest fandoms.

So, with that being said, what are your thoughts about these shows being renewed for more seasons?

Have American Daytime Health Talk Shows Sunk To An All Time Low?

This is blog was originally published on Xanga March 13, 2013.

Hey Xangans! I don't know if you watch any of the Daytime Health Talk Shows on local networks, but I have noticed how pathetic they are becoming. Because I watch The Doctors, Doctor Oz, and Dr. Phil, I have been noticing a few problems recently.

If these talk shows don't have the latest "trending" celebutards trying to promote their new books, entertainment careers, and/products with their names plastered across them, those same celebutards choose to be "special guests" on talk shows, while pushing their political agendas like good wannabe "political activists."

This most definitely applies to smarmy politicians, that seriously believe they are celebrities. These patterns are becoming more frequent, during the 2012-13 year.

Aside from those issues, I will get directly to the point of today's blog. Yesterday afternoon, I watched The Doctors. It seems as if CBS and the producers (1 of the producers being Dr. Phil's oldest son), recently launch "TMI Tuesday."

The Doctors: "TMI Tuesday" (2013)

The episode was dedicated to women with embarrassing questions literally about their genitals.

Dr. Lisa, who is normally the only female doctor on The Doctors, decided to re-educate viewers (mostly female) about the female anatomy. "TMI Tuesday" had other female doctors as special co-hosts to help re-educate us about the female anatomy.

With self-righteousness, these female doctors preached about parents needing to teach their kids the proper terminology for their genitals, all the while using food as their demonstrations for the female anatomy.

Did you understand the last part of that sentence?

While making my bed, I listened to the first few minutes of the show and their ridiculous attempt to their Sex Re-Education (my term for it). I suddenly looked up and saw them holding an AVOCADO, while they explained the location of the clitoris.

"Okay, why aren't they using their usual diagrams?"

That was what I asked myself. I let that part of the "TMI Tuesday" episode slide.

Eventually, they went to another segment about this lady wanting to get surgery done on her LABIA. Supposedly, she felt insecure and it physically bothered her.

Here's the absurdity. Another doctor was explaining the labiaplasty procedure by using a ROAST BEEF SANDWICH. I kid you NOT! A ROAST BEEF SANDWICH?! SERIOUSLY?! OH MY GOD!!!

The moment that doctor pulled out a ROAST BEEF SANDWICH to describe the labia, I could not help simultaneously laughing, rolling my eyes, and shaking my head. Talk about a disgrace! I don't think I will view a Roast Beef Sandwich the same way ever again.

It's understandable that CBS and The Doctors' producers call themselves trying to be "fun" and "innovative," while informing people about their health and anatomy. However, those of us with an IQ and an attention span larger than the size of a gnat were dumbed down as viewers.

The Doctors also made themselves look like self-righteous hypocrites. This includes losing some of us SMARTER viewers with their joke of an episode by trying to re-educate us women about our "lady parts." That's another issue that irked me and some other viewers to no end.

All the female doctors kept interchangeably using "vagina," with "vajayjay," "down there," and "lady parts." Talk about patronizing us women as their viewers.

The village idiots, who are in charge of The Doctors at CBS, obviously forgot about last season's repercussions, when they added Jillian Michaels (who happens to be really squeamish about her own anatomy and sexuality) to the show.

That divisive, loud mouth wreaked so much havoc among the original hosts, that she ran away millions of us viewers, during the earlier part of the last season.

CBS had to fire Jillian. In fact, some of the original viewers of The Doctors still REFUSE to watch the show again, even though she was fired during the mid-season of last year.

Most of us viewers really enjoyed The Doctors, before they decided to throw in some moronic gimmicks. It used to be a fun and light hearted yet educational Health Talk Show, during the daytime. Since the last season, The Doctors have turned into a joke because their integrity is gone.

Yesterday, I thought I was watching an SNL or Mad TV parody for an early April Fools' Day episode. In the past, the show won a few Emmys because they were watchable. Now, CBS feels the need to air unnecessary half to unknown to has been celebutards, as "special guests" to do testimonials.

When celebutards are not doing testimonials, they are on The Doctors trying to promote themselves and/share their sob stories with us viewers.

The Doctors reach to incorporate how a celebutard's product or minor problem is something health related. It's annoying, highly insulting, and needs to be stopped.

Meanwhile, I used to really like and respect Dr. Lisa. Lately, I'm gradually losing my respect for her as a female viewer.

Dr. Lisa needs to stop acting like some desperate, and horny cougar, every time male guests, who are old enough to be her son, appear in her presence on stage.

It's already bad enough she's a Twerd and a 50 Shades fan, but that's another problem for another time.

Anyway, yesterday's "TMI Tuesday" was an absolute joke!
